Early Friday everybody got dressed up for some nice pictures. Bethany had us all go the the old train depot in Lehi that has been turned into a museum and park. Bethany took some professional pictures while I snuck around with my little digital camera and tried to get some candid pictures.
Then we all worked together on some kites. Grandpa and Jack worked on a diamond kite and Grandma and Ashley created a sled kite made from paper. Jack's kite flew very well, It had a long 20 foot tail made from sting and strips of plactic garbage bag. The sail was also made from a garbage bag. Unfortunately, the wind was so strong that Ashley's paper kite ripped apart and she resorted to a spare kite we brought. Jack's was flying great until he got all tangled up in Joey's kite. After getting them untangled, Joey got his kite up and it wa flying so well it pulled right out of his hand and flew away. The last we saw, it was sailing high above the trees you can see in the background in this picture. Ashley's spare kite decided to chase after Joey's. So, that was the end of that. So then we got out our big Romboid Box kite. But Grandpa crashed it so hard it was completely destroyed. We will have to learn more about flying kites and try that again another time.

The Murray pool was a great place to hang out and cool off. The water was warm, but the air was starting to get little cool. Missy loved going down the waterslide. Danny had come up from Provo just to see the kids and have some fun with them and the kids all loved playing with him. He took Missy down the slide so many times we lost track and the other kids begged him to give them piggy back rides in the water.

Sounds like a busy, fun week! I'm glad you started a blog!

ReplyDeleteWow! Grandpa Davis you could use a class in Kite Flying 101- I am glad you have started this blog too-(though I don't know a thing about blogging- or is that bloogging?) Wanted to let you all know (finally) that I am going to South Africa this next week (June 30) for 2 weeks as a missionary for my church to work at an orphanage that has 40 children between ages 3-5 who have lost their parents to AIDS. I have also bought a motor home and I am coming to Utah - in late July I think and am stopping at Bryce Canyon and Zion and Grand Staircase N.P. since I've never been there- could we arrange a visit then- or would it be better to come up to Sandy/Salt Lake?
ReplyDeleteMaybe a reunion ???
